Greetings Brethren!
God has revealed Himself to the hearts and minds of man in many ways. He walked and talked with Adam and explained His plan and purpose. After Adam transgressed God promised a Messiah. In Gen. 3:15 it states that Messiah is for all times and for everyone. The entirety of the human race became totally evil so God spoke only to Noah as we see in Gen. 6:5. He established a nation from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – Israel. He sent the Messiah, His son, through that nation and spoke to man through that Son. He has preserved the truth of His plan and purpose through the Bible. But, sadly mankind, with the exception of the Savior himself, Jesus the Christ, has followed Adam into sin and death. Rom. 3:23, 1Cor. 15:22a, Gal. 3:22a
No doubt, there are still some who, in spite of the preservation of God’s holy scripture, have not heard of God’s plan. And most who have heard of and/or ever read the Bible have not understood God’s plan and purpose for man. That plan is stated succinctly in the first chapter of the first book of the Bible, verse 26. God shows that through man He is growing His family. Yes, God is a family. He is quoted in this verse saying ‘Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness.’ That is family!
One of the most significant ways that God has revealed himself is through His creation. The apostle Paul certainly believed this. Rom 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” The word “power” is from the Greek word dunamis and it means God has great power to not only bring physical things such as the planets and other heavenly bodies into creation, but to move them around, re-set them. He can put them in place to provide the proper environment for His living, breathing, created beings. (This is what He did in Gen.1) “Godhead” is from the Greek word theos, theiotis and/or theotis and it means divinity. God’s divinity = His divine nature. 2 Peter 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature…” We are PARTAKERS of His divinity or Godhead.
Notice back in Romans 1:20 “the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen.” In other words all of creation reveals God’s nature. The primary factor in all of creation is that all things in creation are re-produced in families.
I believe that God explained this to Adam on the first Sabbath day. Gen 2:18,24 “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Families!
Gen 1:27-28 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God cre ted he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth…” God has made man to be born and bred into families so he can learn how to live peacefully within the familial relationship. In this way he is picturing and experiencing what it is like to be part of a family. We are destined to live in god’s loving family eternally. He is our God by creation but He becomes our Father through a spiritual begettal and birth.
It is vital that we learn to love each other and enjoy our families now. We love to be together with our children and their families. This time of year is a big celebration for us. We try to get together with family and celebrate God’s plan, not because of the “season” but because it is a convenient time since most of our family have been given time off from work and school. If you don’t have a tradition of loving fellowship in this way then I encourage you to make some time for family. Treasure your family relationships and see that it pictures God’s family living together, forever. g
Tremendous fun was had by all at the Lexington, Ky winter Festival. It is an experience no teen should miss. The younger one's have a lot of fun too.
