Has Your Address Changed?
Please remember to send UCM a change
of address when you move. This helps things get to you more quickly and saves
us on return postage.
Greetings,
Brethren,
The Feast of Tabernacles 2000 is now
"in the books". I hope your feast was as inspiring and energizing as
mine.
I had the opportunity to visit David
and Molly Antion and attend the feast in Ventura, California for a couple of
days. This was one of the highlights for me. It was good to become
re-acquainted after so many years of separation. It shows that God does not
always honor the reasons why people do not fellowship together. Man builds
barriers that God does not accept. When we put doctrinal and corporate
differences above God's admonition to love and fellowship with one another, God
is not the author of that. I hope that others will follow the example of the
kind of acceptance we experienced in Ventura.
There were so many positive comments
about the messages, the music, the physical blessings, etc. in Sevierville that
we simply cannot share them all. There were many raving reviews. Rather than
write a report on this feast myself, I am including some comments made by some
of the attendees.
I certainly want to thank everyone
who participated in what I feel was the most peaceful, as well as energizing,
feast that I can recall, ever.
Jeff and Sharon Ledy presented an
outstanding seminar: "Building Godly Families” which was in keeping with
the theme of the feast: “Building God’s Family by Building Godly Families.” I
cannot stress enough the dire need in the world today for Godly families. Satan
has focused on our families and is constantly trying to destroy them.
Therefore, it behooves us to understand God’s will for our families.
The seminar Jeff and Sharon have put
together is the most effective program I have ever seen to help us combat
Satan’s attack on families. This includes the seminars, tapes, books, etc. of
all the famous family experts. This statement is not intended to put down those
experts, it is simply the truth. Knowing that God is a family and that family
life pictures God’s relationship with His family gives one more insight into
the real, Godly purpose for human families. I recommend that every Fellowship
Group, Ecclesia, Church, or whatever you call your group, sponsor a seminar by
the Ledys and the team we are putting together here at UCM. If you would like
to have us in your area for a full weekend (Sabbath and Sunday) of classes, as
well as a worship service, please contact us at United Christian Ministries and
we will be glad to work it into our schedule.
Also, if you would like copies of
the materials from the feast just let us know and we will try to fill your
request as soon as possible. It will probably be a few weeks before they will
be ready, so please be patient with us.
Sincerely, in Christ’s
Service,
Ray Wooten

Feast
Reports
by Heather Kemp &
Linda H. White
We had a great Feast of Tabernacles in Sevierville, TN. We went with the UCM group and the theme of the Feast was “building God's family by building Godly families.” It was an awesome Feast...great to see so many families recognized.
We had lots of every age group and
so many were recognized during the feast. There was a two-week old infant and
someone who was I believe 93. It was one of the most open and tolerant feast
sites in my memory, with everyone from a WCG minister to many who were meeting
alone.
We had guitar playing, sign
language, and a great talent show. The Ledy’s put on a seminar about relationships,
which I have heard, was excellent. There were numerous bible studies. However,
the messages were outstanding! This is one Feast when every message really
touched my heart and my mind in some way to draw me closer to God. I have come
back energized despite mountains of schoolwork.
However, the most important aspect
of the Feast was the spirit. On the first day, Ray rebuked Satan and asked God
to bar him from the feast, and I believe God did. Never have I seen a more
loving and tolerant Feast site. Everyone got along, and even though some were
dreading the lecture on the history of the WCG tradition, they stayed for
enough of it to see that it wasn't bitterness and angst but was a really
enlightening past history. Their willingness to give it a chance spoke volumes
to me about how far we have come.
Each day there was a real emphasis
on showing love and concern as well as other points of importance about the
nature of God and salvation, but this is the first Feast where I have seen such
a united call to action. It was a truly wonderful experience. We did have some
healings take place at the site, which was also very encouraging to the group.
Overall, it was the best Feast ever,
and I do not mean that in a clichéd sense. Everything worked out so well... :)

Beautiful red and yellow foliage and
bright blue skies in Sevierville, TN helped 240 attendees rejoice in a truly
fall festival sponsored by UCM.
The theme of building godly families
was a much-needed one, with excellent sermons by several of the men, gifts for
children and teens, and fun activities. As one man who had come from NY
commented to me, the atmosphere was that of a warm and loving family. He had
heard about the UCM group when he was with the Living COG in Pigeon Forge.
Jeff
and Sharon Ledy also conducted a series of workshops on the same theme. They
have taken training in series of courses by Gary Smalley. I would recommend the
workshops to everyone, even if you think you should be the one doing the
courses! ;-)
Ray
had asked Wes to reprise the presentation he gave at the IBLC conference, and
once again, it stimulated a lot of interest and discussion. Garvin Green, who I
understand is the regional director for WCG, also attended that day as a
visitor. It would have been interesting to get his take on the part about WCG.
A
number of women at Sevierville asked about holding a women's conference in
2001, and I was able to get Sharon Ledy to agree to present a session or two on
the family workshops she had done earlier if IBLC can sponsor another one.
Additionally, UCM is planning to create a women's publication. I am not sure
how such a publication will be developed, but if anyone is interested, please
let me or Peggy Wooten know.
Since
we had quite a few musicians and singers at the feast, Wes hopes to get a band
(country and classic rock) developed for next year's feast. If we have a large
enough facility, we can make the Feast even more family friendly by holding a
free family dance on one evening and maybe an outdoor carnival on family day.
UCM did a great job of hosting this year by having coffee, teas, juice, and
assorted cookies and snacks every day of the feast, plus a very inexpensive but
well-prepared luncheon on the first Holy Day for all who wanted to attend.
I
was also able to meet the LMs who were there. I don't think I missed anyone but
if I did, I will catch you next year!

A young lady named Sally, relates an experience she had in a seminary
class, given by her teacher, whom we'll call Brother Smith. She says Brother Smith
was known for his elaborate object lessons. One particular day, Sally walked
into seminary and knew they were in
for another fun day. On the wall was a big target and on a nearby table were
many darts. Brother Smith told the students to draw a picture of someone that
they disliked or someone who had made them angry, and he would allow them to
throw darts at the person's picture.
Sally's girlfriend (on her right),
drew a picture of a girl who had stolen her boyfriend. Another friend (on her
left), drew a picture of his little brother. Sally drew a picture of Brother
Smith, putting a great deal of detail into her drawing, even drawing pimples on
his face. Sally was
pleased at the overall effect she had achieved.
The class lined up and began
throwing darts, with much laughter and hilarity. Some of the students threw
their darts with such force that their targets were ripping apart. Sally looked
forward to her turn, and was filled with disappointment when Brother Smith,
because of
time limits, asked the students to return to their seats.
As Sally sat thinking about
how angry she was because she didn't have a chance to throw any darts at her
target, Brother Smith began removing the target from the wall.
Underneath the target was a picture of Jesus . . .
A complete hush fell over the
room as each student viewed the mangled picture of Jesus; holes and jagged
marks covered His face and His eyes were pierced out.
Brother Smith said only these
words, "In as much as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto Me."
No other words were necessary;
the tear-filled eyes of each student focused only on the picture of Christ. The
students remained in their seats . . . even after the bell rang . . . then
slowly left the classroom, tears streaming down their faces. Enough Said!!
"And the King will answer and
say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these
brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'" ~Matthew
